My magazine will follow some of the conventions of other other magazines such as "Mixmag" and "Dj" but my magazine is more original in it's own way.
Just like Mixmag, my magazine aims for a younger audience and has the same genre. It is essentially a Dance magazine to inform young people and advise them on the next biggest Dj's. My front cover follows some of the conventions of Mixmag, my masthead is similar, the model is placed nearly exactly at the same position as Calvin Harris in the front cover. The tittle is bold and advertises upcoming acts.
Like Mixmag I use bright colours because it is part of the conventions, it appeals to youth as they see it as interesting and different. Purple being a bright colour would automatically attract the eye of the reader and this is what Mixmag aims to do.
My contents page is also similar to mixmag's as it is in a bright colour and also i have featured a picture of dancers. This represents night life and mMxmag is very fond of advising young people what to do and this is the aim of my magazine.
The figures show that Mixmag has no real dominant gender in its readership so decides to not make it a male stereotype magazine with pictures of women everywhere. Like my magazine it is fairly open and shows no gender favouritism.
As for my double page spread i decided to not follow the conventions so much and go for a more original artistic type. It is rather different than most double page spreads however i think it would appeal to the audience.
